We are finally sailing as we should sail with two bullets in a row. Only Ralph and the “Hammer” were on the boat tonight but as the winds were mostly light with some puffs it worked out great. Both fleets raced course 5 which is bound to have an up wind leg as a posed to a reach fest. We had a great start second across the line and kept up with Chop Chop to the first mark. Spanky rounded just in front of us and when we rounded we got stuck in her bad air and were a bit trapped it looked as if we were going to need to tack to keep from colliding with the bulkhead at the Pier Condos and as the rest of the fleet got a lift that would have cost some time but we got some speed and a lift which allowed us to clear Spanky. We were well in the lead of the “B” fleet with only Slice and Chop Chop ahead so it really paid off to just keep our cool as sail the course. We had little trouble after that we stayed clear of hospital point to stay in the wind which had lightened there and the rest of the fleet cough up a bit but the rest of the race was all ours. We may have beat the fleet had it not been for the slowdown on the second leg but a great race all the same. Click here for the results and here for the series standings.
