The wind looked to be light and was at first but soon it piped up to make a great night to race. We had a very good start the first leg was up wind the wind out of the northwest and at the first mark we were close to our fleet leader Wiki Wiki after the rounding my job was to cover Wiki which it looked as if we would be in an excellent position to win. The wind was switching around to the south so by the time we rounded the next mark (which we overstood a consequence of the wind change) the next leg which was back to the first mark was now a downwind leg and we were actually ahead of Wiki for a while the last leg we were in an excellent position. Wiki had to pinch hard to avoid the point just south of hospital point and we were above him. Alas that’s when things fell apart first the jib started to go down the rope clutch allowed the halyard to slip. The distraction negated our hard-earned position and then I split tacks instead of continuing to cover Wiki and as so often happens Wiki was in better air than us and grabbed a chunk of time off of us for the win.
