Rodney and I took part in the middle ground race in PHRF “C” and the winds just lightened as the day progressed much to our disadvantage. the start was great we dropped our genera and at about 30 seconds to go we popped the chute and were on our way we got to the first mark well up and had a fairly clean drop thinking there was only 2 of us and were keeping up with most of the fleet. Then we had to pass through the start line and thinking of BBSA races we tack back to avoided the line and this cost us a lot of time (later i found that it was ok to sail through the line but oh well). We kind of lost track of the fleet so we were on our own to decided where to sail near the beach was actually the best place to be but we were a little farther out. We watched a Soner sail almost to the beach and though that was just to far but later we could see that he was way ahead. We then had to fight an almost 2kt current to get to the lighthouse and the wind lighten more which helped us even less. We finely got to raise the chute after passing “I” to the finnish and while we didn’t do great we were not last. Click here for the race results.
